This was a plan and spec project performed under Sweetwater Construction. Our portion was to construct one new boiler room, upgrade a second boiler, install a new chiller pumping station, and install new hot and chilled water underground feed lines to a four-story patient care building, finally remove the existing below-grade boiler room. All work had to be performed without shutting down the existing heating and cooling systems of an active hospital. Six ultra-high efficiency Aerco boilers were installed and an eight-foot cube prefabricated outdoor pumping station. Both hot and chilled water systems had new redundant pumps with variable frequency drive controllers and automated summer-winter changeover valves. All equipment was connected to an upgraded Andover DDC automated central control system. All work had to comply with the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services.
